Default Attack Delay From Ranged Swap

Why does swapping a bow before you do your first attack make your melee attack go through 2 delays?

Can you be more specific about the action sequence, ie:

you start a fight, you autoshoot, you switch your bow, you notice 2x melee delay before your first melee swing.

and

you start a fight, you autoshoot, you melee once, you switch your bow, you notice 1x melee delay before your next melee swing

At bare minimum, describe those two scenarios, and whether you're using two one handers, two hander, or 1 hander and shield or other.

I start fight, I swap bow, I click auto melee, there is a double delay for the first melee swing (also the first action of the fight)

What made me notice is i swap my bow in arena depending on who I'm fighting, and I swap before i do my first action. Swapping during attack also incurs the double delay on the next swing.

To make sure we're speaking of the same time frames here, if you're using a two handed weapon and you swap your weapon, does that result in a double delay on the next swing or a single delay?

swapping my 2h causes delay too, but i'm talking about the bow swap. Why does that cause any delay when i never use auto shoot. More specifically why does it cause delay before you take any action. i.e.

Fight starts, I change bow from samurai bow to thraki bow, then I click auto melee, it goes through 2 delays before it does the first attack of the fight.

Your question is understood. To help me answer it:

To make sure we're speaking of the same time frames here, if you're using a two handed weapon and you swap your weapon, does that result in an extra "double delay" on the next swing or an extra "single delay" or "no extra delay"?

Swapping 2h will be remainder of original weapons delay + new weapons delay before a swing, for the bow it's doing my weapons delay + my weapons delay before a swing.

I tried to replicate your 2x weapon delay issue when swapping bows prior to attacking and could not. Perhaps you're swapping more than just your bow.

Equipping any new quiver, arrow, bow, or weapon will result in delaying your autoattack/autoshoot by an amount equal to the new melee attack delay. As for why, they can all play a part in autoattack/autoshoot speed and resulting damage/effects. It helps balance and prevent potential exploits with procs and delays.

So you, swapped bows, clicked attack, and it instantly attacked? cause that isn't at all what happens when I do it.

Yes. Like in Alga's vid it's about a 5-6 second delay from when you swap either a bow or an identical fang spear at the start of a fight and the first swing, which is about the same as a standard fang spear swing.

But why, there's no difference in delay calculation or anything for it to make sense.
