Default 2h crit chance, Need explained.

ok Critical Strike provides 0.25% per lvl, 25% at lvl 100, to crit.

Two Handed provides a base 20% with an added 0.2% per lvl, soo 40% at lvl 100, to crit.

it also stats that with both these skills maxed it provides well over 50% chance to crit.

now ive asked around, and was told to use glitchs sig as a guide, as its a probability equation.

the maths there =

1 - ((1 - 25%) * (1 - 40%)) = 55%

now it could just be me, but 55% isnt well beyond 50%.

now im hoping like hell i got my maths wrong (and chrisms as he done the math for me ) and that it is infact more.

can glitch let us know if this is right and we are expecting too much from the wording of the skill, or if we have the maths wrong, and it is infact more??

cheers

yea its been said a few times that all probabilities like that multiply like that. its why we cant have 100% accuracy or 100% resist since you could just go
56%+10%+30%+10% = 106%
this would be from gems (with skill to increase effectiveness), pets, skills and rank 5 rune

see thats what confused me.

if i added em = 65%
multiplying = 50%, other way = 35%
doing it in glitches sig = 55%

sooo i dont ****ing know which 1 it is.

you can get your crit chance a bit higher than 55% through equipment and crit rune, but I agree with this calculation (by Huggles, posted here: http://forums.nodiatis.com/forums/no...iscussion.html)

Melee:
Maxed Critical Strike: 75% chance to not occur
epic 99 legging: 98% x 75% = 73.5%
epic 99 legging again: x 98% = 72.03%
99 Epic Bow: x98% = 70.5894
Critical rune r5: 94% = 66.354036
Max 1H crit % shown above from here down, it is for 2H only
Two-handed maxed: x 60% = 39.8124216

So, reversed that would be 60.1875784% chance for a 2H melee crit, and a 33.645964% chance for a 1H/DW melee crit.

I am no math whiz.. maybe architect but i am artist/designer.. but i have asked around as well... and it's something to do w/ using the % chance for NOT critting... (.75)(.80)(.80)(.99)(.99)= too lazy to do math... dunno if thats how its really done ... but its something like that.. and i heard 55% as well smash... yes.. skill description is very misleading unless one actually understands/does the math...

maybe it should be stressed that it is a separate chance to crit in the description?

the chance for it to not happen is whats indicated by 1-(1-.25)*(1-.4) cause that gives you 1-.75*.6 which is the chance each skill gives to not crit

We believe these are working as intended.
