Default Arena Fix Ideas

A thread for any ideas of what could be done to fix the format since apparently everyone hates it. Mostly in 3v3 really. I don't see any issues with the anon seasons or 1v1.

Shorter seasons. everyone seems to want that. Maybe a prize adjustment if that puts out too many new LGs

I suggest leagues.
A hardcore league that forces 3v3 teams to have a certain amount of fights a day or lose a lot of rating. Maybe separated into day league and night league. This may bring a busier Q as well as have the more PVP loving people fight eachother as opposed to mixing in the crappy teams who just get stomped 24/7. Maybe NPC toons in there as well if its not full.

Casual League for lvl 80 to 90 toons that don't arena a ton but want tempers, prizes of course would also be casual. (could also be total EXP based instead of level)

A minor league - under 80 toons that want to learn and start PVP in nod (again maybe total lvl exp instead to prevent those low level LG wearin ppl from stomping everyone)

I realize the community isn't huge and arena is slow this season, its just a few ideas.

Post your own ideas, maybe someone has a really cool thing everyone will like... or at least most of nod

As previously numerically demonstrated: Arena isn't slow this season. It's slow compared to 1v1 and solo 3v3 queue, as expected, but it was already generating more fights per team per day than a typical 3v3 arena season, and that was prior to the prime time speed up patch which made it faster. It's slow at 4am in the morning, but that will always be the case. At the same time I was unable to get a match to pop queued for a AAA FPS released in 2018. This is the reality of the English-speaking global population's sleep cycle.

So before we try to fix something that isn't broken, let's get rid of the false narrative of slow arena and small or shrinking community. Compared to last year, both the average number of active players and revenue of Nodiatis is up. Suggesting otherwise is a tactic used by people who want to justify suggestions or bash changes when their argument cannot stand on its own. "But my level 90 friend derpymcflirpins quit." - no ****. People typically won't play the same game forever, but they tend to play Nodiatis longer than 99% of other games out there.

Let's also not forget, that "everyone hated" the last arena season far more than this season. The amount of whining about how unfair it was being matched up with a team that couldn't win far exceeded anything that's happening now.

So the "fix" is probably to log on, fight the other teams and let the chips fall where they may. Focus on PvE if arena isn't your thing but harvest the tokens for tempers and the farming bonus, and be happy you have them.

Most of us realize that arena will be slower or can be slower under certain circumstances. Like off peak times, Being very high rated etc. Personally I don't care how slow it is, or how boring it is (to an extent). All I care about is the amount of time I have to invest if I am on one of the strongest teams and want to win.

Right now if I want to win, I have to endure many hours a day of a slow queue. Nearly all of the time its matches that I already know the outcome before it even starts. The endless grinding gets old fast, especially when the time between matches creeps up to 20 mins and the rating gains drop down to 0.3 or so. Even got a 0.000 yesterday.

I play this game for the PVP and the good fights against other top teams. I want more of them. Any move from the current grind fest winning to a best team wins will only be good for this game.

I wasn't intending to make you upset, moreso opening the floor to all the ppl that go on about a broken system and how it sucks, how its a "ghost town", etc. I mean complaining without a proposed solution is basically like driving a Hummer to a climate change rally youre a part of.

As for shrinking community I think ive noticed way more new people now than in a while, which is nice.

Of course arena is going to be slower at 4 AM, but instead of trying to remedy that the most recent patch was a slap in the face and a boost to people who already had way faster queue?

I will 100% agree that arena is faster, waaaaay faster than it ever used to be. WHEN there are people in queue. There's 0 incentive for people to queue at night and im fairly certain it's because of the 1500 rating gap thing they are literally either too low to fight my team that is in queue from like 19:00-07:00 or they have to ONLY fight me because low rated teams don't get any fights so no one actually queues at night.

People inevitably end up dodging after 1 or 2 fights vs us. I can't much say I actually blame them for it either, losing constantly vs the same team back to back to back to back gets really old really quickly. If they had the opportunity to fight other teams during this time that might make more people actually queue at night. There are a lot of people that are on in non prime-time hours, queue doesn't have to be slow at night but for some reason this season once 1 AM or so hits, it's slower than any season I remember before it.

Perhaps increase the amount of bonus gained for losing? Lower the rating loss people have to us when there's a huge gap in the rating? I don't know, all i know is that I'm tired of sitting in queue for hours with no matches at all.

This issue is
1) This change... doesn't do anything except give faster ques when que is already at its fastest.
2) You said it was to prevent decay... During the times with the highest amount of players in que
3) The time limit is to prevent dodging. But dodging isnt happening...

How can you put a hand holding add on to avoid decaying while also limiting the time frame because your worried about dodgers. It doesent make sense. Either you want people to have the full ability to not decay... or you want to limit peoples ability to dodge and they get to deal with not decaying on their own... why try and do both? Just lead's to no positive change.

Last season dodging was rampant, instead of putting in changes mid season you put them in after. This season, has been little to no dodging at all but yet your adding more anti-dodging mechanic.

On top of that. myself, and imo others were more wanting to give you feedback that arena needs MORE if its not going to whittle and die in the coming seasons.

There are plenty of active toons who dont want to put in the time, gold, or effort of finding a team, queing for months and costing 5x+ the cost of arena rewards to be a mediocre team trying for the bottom of top 10. THIS is one of the biggest issues in arena atm. Its top teams and low teams. There are no middle of the road teams. You've expressed there being no chance of rewards being changed nore the length of arena being changed. Either those stances need to change or SOMETHING needs to be added for people to bother arenaing.

1) Correct, and that's not a bad thing.
2) No, I said (in civil last night) that limiting the change to prime time was to prevent teams from using the patch during the wee hours of the night to avoid decay.
3) Great. It's still important to prevent it. An exploit that nobody is exploiting yet is an exploit waiting to be exploited.

I sympathize with late nighters, being one myself, but in PvP you either play when the other players are playing, or you're missing a very crucial part of the P v P equation. Nobody can fix that.

And for quoting yourself in your signature pic doing exactly what I just said not to do, you've been forum banned and muted in game. Not a martyr, just dumb.

Coming on and mocking your playerbase is an odd way to show you sympathize with us.

You COULD fix it if you gave some incentive to queueing at night versus the stronger team so people don't have to just lose lose lose lose lose lose lose lose.

If there's a big rating gap give them the tokens they would have gotten if they won?

There's a lot of things that could be done that would increase peoples want to queue without breaking anything having to do with arena.

When did you ever say not to quote you in a signature?

Not for quoting me, for quoting himself doing the very thing I just said not to do: claiming that arena or the game is dying in order to bolster a garbage argument.
