Default Sneak Peek: Secondary Classes

Scheduled for the night of the 24th of November, the following game additions are planned:
  • The epic gems Sacrigenesis and Sacrigen will have their upkeep classified as no-fail meaning that the gem will remain active and in-play despite potentially not having the energy or mana to sustain it. Their upkeep and effects remain unchanged.
  • A new level 40 stats skill called Secondary Specialization will be added that will give players the option to select a secondary class different from their primary. This skill will increase the innate base class bonuses of that secondary class by up to 1% per point just as the Class Specialization skill does for the primary class. There will be no Class Enhancement counterpart for your secondary class which will limit the power of the innate bonuses to be two thirds of what your primary innate bonuses can be.
  • We currently plan on allowing players to make use of their secondary classes' special ability on a SHARED cooldown with their primary. Using one of the abilities will put both on cooldown for the same duration based on whichever one was used. This will allow for more choice and strategy in combat without making the special abilities overpower combat.
  • Class proficiencies (the bonuses and penalties to the four main stat skills experience gains) will not be affected by your secondary class.
  • Only primary classes can reduce gate potion usage.
  • Only primary classes can use special revive gems.
  • The 2 second head start you get to use class abilities as a Guardian or Tactician only applies if it is your primary class, however, it can applies to both primary and secondary abilities.
  • We have plans to allow the changing of your secondary class but for a very substantial gold cost of 1 to 2.5 million.
  • An issue with consecutive high level epic drops has been fixed.

An idea we also have for this patch would be Reroller's Boon. Basically this would allow rerollers to catch up to their previous experience total albeit with a lot of hard work. The way it would work is the game would keep track of the highest amount of experience total you have reached on your character. Upon rerolling you would receive a 3x experience/trophy bonus (that worked the same as the PK bonus and didn't stack with it) until the point at which you reached your previous experience total. Feedback on this idea is welcomed. Unfortunately it would not be retroactive so anyone who rerolled prior to this being implemented would not gain the benefits.

Reroller's Boon will be implemented next week with some restrictions. It will have a toggle on/off and when on the 3x trophies received will be soulbound to prevent its use for permanent trophy farming.

As for the potential for players to use Reroller's Boon to assist in overskilling, PK's have already been making use of 3x experience to overskill with the risk of being killed and forced to reroll. Those using Reroller's Boon will have already skipped ahead to the being forced to reroll part. Furthermore, mathematically speaking and without considering overskilling in order for a player to break even and catch up to their previous character's exp total the 3x exp would have to last until 1.5x their previous exp max. This was actually the original plan, however, due to the nature that there is potential to make longer use of the 3x experience by overtraining we feel that allowing it only to their previous experience max is a good compromise and should even out for the average reroller. You will inevitably reach your previous exp max even if hand selecting and training only single skills to 100 which in itself would be extremely difficult considering the debilitating effects it would have on your character's ability to efficiently farm with horrid skills.

We do also plan on having Reroller's Boon affect PK's who have rerolled or been killed. It will never stack with the 3x PK bonuses, however. It will just be a safer/faster way to rebuild a PK character for those interested in the darker deeds of Nodiatis.
