Default Started, got to Stronhad, dont got the game...

Hi,

sorry for misspells, etc. english is not my native.
I think I need a little help for the beginning in this game.
My character is an adventurer near level 6 and I wanted to skill on melee as most. The fights tend to take an eternity, its so slow nearly the line of boringness...

I have the best weapon I can get, a scorched longsword and a full copper plate, but ash treants (lvl5) take 50% of my health and these gargoyles (lvl6) nearly kill me all the time if I dont spam my DD-gems. Still sometimes they kill me after 90 seconds.
But I dont want to click gems all the time, I want to be a warrior-thingie-guy and beat the scrap out of monsters, real men use steel

So what I am supposed to do and skill?
I would appreciate to throw my gems away and fight with more stalwart things, but dont have a killing speed of a pile of chopped wood.

All the cool skills seem to be for the mages with their staves

As the skills become harder to get and I nearly only loot spirit-thingies, my magic skills have some points, too:

active acc 4
passive 8
rush Knowl 10
rollover 8
extended 9

slashing 6
suiting 7
block 3

life 4, 5, 4
psych 5, 4

pet 9 (i found a sewer rat, which needs 10)

All attr.-points are 106.

some points in testudo will definitely help.

some more point in sorcery, green magic, and life magic, then go buy regrowth and blessed healing gems

Supervoid:

Had many of the same problems when I first started this game.

I found a partner my level and we almost always teamed up to play together. That made the fights much faster, and neither of had to worry too much about getting killed. We did that until we both were around level 12 or 13.

I'm a bow fighter, so I can't give you any suggestions on what melee skills to raise.

As for magic, don't totally dismiss it. Being able to use a few offensive gems in a fight can speed up your kills, and having a few healing gems handy can keep you alive.

Welcome to the game, and have fun.

you can try leveling up skills under weaponry like Critical Strike, Overcrit and Hemorrhage for a slight increase in dps

Try using an armor potion, even a rank 2 will add 200 armor class and then you will take much less damage.

"All att points are 106"

This is where your initial problem lies. As a melee, you don't need to fix your build abit.
Melee: 2str:1dex for now, PST is pointless to raise at this point.

Magic: leave it alone for now. When you're a higher lvl you mat choose to raise cnc and mat for gems, but you don't need it yet.

Defense: Everyone has a preference, I like 2agi:1dur until around lvl 15-20,then I lvl it evenly until fights determine a different tactic.

Recovery: some use reg, but again, you can probably wait and focus on points to raise dmg and def.

Early on I like 5melee:1def for pve, 2:1 for pvp, up to you. Other skills people mentioned are a great idea, but the stats are the critical focus for beginners, I hope this helps, and welcome to Nod!

one thing i like to correct about revanch's guide.

Put all points into dur early lvl. When you hit lvl 20ish, start putting them in cnt rather than agi. Agi is literally useless unless u have a shield or very high parry rating. Keep your CNT on level with monster level. If you are fighting a level 45 monster, have ATLEAST 145 cnt. (or get get hit by 100 damage DDs)

Otherwise, revanch's build on melee, recovery and magic are good.

Hi,

thank you all for helping me out, even compared to most tabletop or p&p-games I played, nodiatis seems to give someone a run to get it.
The day after I asked for help here in this forum, some nice high-lvl gave me some gold and a link to the nodiatis-wikia. With this gold and the beginners guide I realized some mistakes by myself and done a respec with much higher strength and less magic.
I have thrown my shield and sword away, bought myself a nice 2h-hammer and life seems easier right away. There is only one DD-gem in my pouch, yet 2 mezmerize-/stunpreventing-gems and 2 hot-gems as a bonus. So my skills dont need to be as high to penetrate the mob-resistence, just as much to heal myself.

Thanks for the tricks with the points

regards,
void

Um....helping out a new player is one thing, but don't play the game for them. Let them work a little for it, that's what the game is all about. I think I was probably close to level 50 before I had 100K.

its his money and he will probably do what he wants with it.

but my personal opinion is the same as yours gurn. Its good to help new players, but giving them 100k is spoiling them.

Oh no, it was just enough to respec melee and defense at lvl 6, so it was far away from 100k. What should I do with this much gold anyway? Buying all the things I cant equip, because of my low skills in suiting and weaponry?

I dont think anyone is playing the game for me, as I have to kill all the monsters by myself and am really thankful for the tipps how to skill in a rough direction.
Figure out all youve done after days of grinding was for nothing and the it was slow as hell because of wrong stats? Sorry, but if I want frustration, I stick to rougelike-games again.
Am I really supposed to try different configurations and look for my dps with calculator and stopwatch?

As I could see it as a beginner, most problems could be prevented if it was a little bit amateurfriendly, with a real tutorial or some character-examples and not like: "This is the church, this is a shop, these are gems and now go for yourself and make mistakes till you are bored."
If most things would be clear, i hadnt asked.

yea for top players, 100k is like 10 fights if you get grushes.

But its not the amount that matters... Anyways its your money, do as you wish.
