Default Signature size limitation

CNs: Limit abuse of signature space by defining size and type.

First and foremost, I absolutely love the ability for forum users to express themselves with a signature, and hate having to "turn them off" in user options.

Having said that, creativity should not be at the expense of being able to clearly read and navigate the forums. Far too many forums get out of control and simply take the signatures away. I don't want to see that happen here.

Disclaimer: The following examples are just that- examples. No ones Signature was hurt in the collection of the following data, and no one should feel that they are being picked on.

Ambriel- 468 x 144 - Pretty much a universal standard

Decker- 390(w) x 150(h) - Could definately allow wider, standard heigth? (most are between 144 to 150)

Ehlmaris- 440 x 175 - A bit too high, but acceptable? (my opinion)

Abeltronics- 454 x 375 - Width is still fine, too much height

klippi - 316kb of text - srsly, I know you feel you need to make a statement, but wall of pink text?

Interim Conclusions/suggestions: (will update as feedback comes in)
-Limit image to ____(w) x ____(h) ? Shouldn't exceed standard page width limitations.
-Limit available space for text. Use of large text size should override line limitation. i.e.- 7 lines of [size 2] text vs. 4 lines for [size 4]

Edit: Do I not have enough posts to create a poll? I'm not being offered/can't find that option...

No more than Ehl's height and no wider than Ambriels IMO.

Also, have signatures auto off.

Or

Have signatures shown at maximum of 3 times per page in a thread.

"...and hate having to "turn them off" in user options."

@ Zenga- Yes, as stated above, I'm aware of the option. The community however, shouldn't feel the need to turn off everyones signature, just because a few are over-the-top.

oh, and since the concept is from a differnt forum, the "ibtturnitoff" at the bottom of the OP means, "I Beat The turn it off" comment. Same concept as "ibtl" meaning I got my comment in before the thread was locked. [i beat the (thread) lock]

@ sherman- 468ish x 150 - thanx

@ klippy- love ya mang! no foul intended

The point Hunters Bane , is that there are too many immature kids who are no more than grocery store baggers irl, that feel the need to overcompensate for their inadequacies with self-quotes, oversized signatures and email names like some_people_arestupid@hotmail or alreadyoverboy@yahoo.

You have shown the capacity to be a productive member of this forum, as proven by many of the 25 threads you have started. Please don't stop now simply because you think you are "old school" and deserve the right. I know it will be hard for you, but pretend you are trying to get the asst. manager's job at the grocery store you work at. Speak up when it affects your job abilities directly, but don't open your mouth and show your ignorance when the adults/managers are talking.
