Default Blue DD

Glitch please concider giving Blue DD a little nudge. If i'm right the Damage is low on blue DD because it can draw a new gem behind it with replay. Well since deft recovery Blue is quite un-desireable because you can cast the other gems just as fast now. So actually Blue should only be slightly less damage than the other DD gems. Not = to because then they would be better if you stack aura's or sumthing you know?

This is a good point! (says the Magician Jeweler).

With Deft Recov, and the already awesome draw speeds, Replay has become a hassle rather than a boon.

I used to play a machinegun mage (only blue cantrips). Totally does the job at lower levels. Sub-par at higher ranks.
Intelligence increases maximum damage by a percentage. There is nothing worth mentioning that increases minimum damage, which is what the blue gems are for.

People with Piercers complained about this - A LOT - and finally, Glitch answered - they got bloodlets. Blue casters, with the exact same issues, never got anything more than cricket noises. Heck, they don't even get the accuracy bonus of having part of their damage calculated based on the same that generates their accuracy! (or the extra 5% from the Piercing skill...)
Since Intel is still required by blue casters (unless they want to deal less than their maximum damage, which just happens to also be their minimum damage), I guess they'd need something extra.

I'm confused ...

Are you saying that with low Int, you can do less than your minimum damage? o_0

I haven't tested this out yet. The only precisions we have is that lower int lowers max damage. What happens when max becomes lower than min, I have never tested out.

I've never used them, but I always assumed that they had that amount of damage as the static value in the formula regardless of Int ...

That wrong?

Your int can raise the max damage of any gem you cast to up to twice the original amount. This includes blue gems.

I hated the patch when Glitch made it so Flamecall could not raise a gem's damage by more than its original maximum damage. This was a huge nerf to blue casters.

Blue DD doesnt have a min/max just damage. the only issue was the damages are so low compaired to other gems. r14 Blue DD ~ = to r16 Red DD. thing is with deft recovery you can cast at the same speed. now i'm not saying blue needs to be = to red but i feel an adjustment is in order. Deft recovery made blue DD's pretty under powered. Not totaly useless they still give dust lol. even the inferno skill gives less damage bonus to blue DD. it's only 20% vs 35% to red.

As a blue DD caster let me just say that you are putting the square peg in the round hole. With a balance gem and mre, and low mst/high cnc/and decent int, i can blast black mods down quite easily. I don't farm quickly, but its not difficult at all. In my opinion, blue is alright. It's not meant to be a huge nuke every .5 seconds.

I am using blue dds on my melee toons who have less than 100 int. No, you don't do less than the min damage.

Not saying it's difficult. Saying that, compared to other casters, it is lacking.

A Red caster with the exact same settings you put up would get a MUCH higher killspeed, even though speed is supposed to be Blue's territory.

killspeed is Red's specialization. Endurance is Blue's. It has decent cost to damage, and a slim range. It's not a fully automatic nuke launcher.

Ah cool thanks, I was debating whether to get any to fill in my Guardian's pouch.

Seems it may be worthwhile at the upper echelons then.

I know this thread is about blue DD's, but I would like to see an added amount of DoTs please. Blue, Grey, White and Red for instance. Green and black are fine. Blue DoTs could deliver frost dmg and changing a couple DoT skills wouldn't be too hard I imagine. Just give it a thought please and thanks.
