Default Pet drop rate

I have years of data from two capped toons that shows Pets dropping every 7-8 drops. The only acception to this is the rare occasion when I intentionally farm a zone that has a small chance of dropping a non-epic pet. In recent months, drop rate must have changed. Can not find any post from Glitch stating a change was implemented.

On one capped toon went 16 drops this fall farming constant heroic in N. Lake without pet drop, then went 8 drops. This toon has now gone 10 drops without pet (If pet drops on next drop, that will be 11 drops between pet drops).

On my other capped toon, (Also farming N. Lake..sometimes heroic between epic drops, sometimes not), went 17 drops this fall between pets, then 12. This toon has now gone 11 drops without a pet drop (If pet drops on next drop, that will be 12 drops between pet drops).

You might say, it is all random. If it was as random as my examples above, I would have more pet drops like the examples above in my years of data.

Since a change has been made, why was there no notification?

Also, is there a built-in limit to the number of Yetis a toon can farm in a set period of time? Like 6 months or a year...

There's no built in limit on any particular item drop. There's also no reason to believe you'll always get a pet every 7-8 drops.

Started record keeping October 10, 2010:

4th pet after 9 drops, 03/19/11
5th pet after 8 drops, 04/10/11

7th pet after 11 drops, 05/28/11
8th pet after 10 drops, 07/06/11
8th pet after 9 drops, 08/09/11
9th pet after 7 drops, 08/27/11
10th pet after 13 drops, 10/14/11
11th pet after 10 drops, 11/15/11
12th pet after 7 drops, 12/05/11
13th pet after 12 drops, 01/10/12
14th pet after 8 drops, 02/02/12
15th pet after 7 drops, 02/22/12
16th pet after 10 drops, 03/16/12
17th pet after 7 drops, 04/14/12
18th pet after 7 drops, 04/25/12
19th pet after 7 drops, 05/16/12
20th pet after 8 drops, 06/05/12
21st pet after 7 drops, 06/18/12
22nd pet after 14 drops, 07/20/12
23rd pet after 7 drops, 08/04/12
24th pet after 7 drops, 08/21/12
25th pet after 7 drops, 09/09/12
26th pet after 19 drops, date not recorded
27th pet after 11 drops, 11/20/12
28th pet after 10 drops, 12/25/12

Mean 9.931034483
Median 9
Mode 7
Standard Deviation 3.899917897
Least 7
Most 23

Data tends to substantiate Ballrog's contention that pets are likely to drop every 7 to 9 drops. Data also substantiates Glitchless's contention there can be a long dry spell between pet drops.

Did you record where each of those drops was? That would be interesting too.

My years of data show me no reason why I would not expect to get a pet drop every 7-9 drops. The occasional 10+ drops between pets is understandable. However, 5 times over a period of 6 consecutive pet drops (data from 3 consecutive pet drops on each of my toons) is an excessive gap. Especially, if it just started happening in the past 3 months.

The data I keep is as follows:

number of drops since last epic.
When drop occured (Day, date, and rrt remaining at moment of drop
rrt burned between drops
The exact drop. examples: 89 Helm, 87 Whip, 99 epic 1h Crush tp, etc
Number of mobs killed since last drop (this is broken down into Accell kills, TM kills and of course the zone in which the mobs were farmed.

I am a very detailed record keeper.

To answer your question, Lurkee, yes. All drops occured in N. Lake with the exception of a few of the Epic drops were farmed in either Pit or Abyss.

For slow effects, use the slow % but as a negative.

Just repeat for multiple effects.

DO NOT multiply by 1+slow% to get your new delay. 1*1.4 is not the same as 1/0.6 and your answer will be wrong.
