PREFACE: mages in early stages blow and need to rely on their staff damage moreso than their magic gems.. also if you think you're due an epic soon, find out which epic is close to your lvl range and gain some quick lvls in recovery to get there if necessary (to be delvld close to cap)

Stay fighting yellows/oranges early on, then upgrade to orange/red as soon as you can handle them easily (should be mid-late game)

Don’t worry if you can only solo yellow bosses early/midgame – mages aren’t meant to be any good till endgame

Keep a flare-up aura in your first slot until midgame, when you have gemhandling at a decent lvl to give yourself a shot at drawing it in your aura slots – this is when you should switch to a good recastable DD gem in your first slot

In this guide I prefer to go heavy on black DDs because they are a lot more cost-efficient than the red ones.. reds give you the biggest blast for the lvl, but cost a whole lot too.
Also note that I have left out a few skills such as divination that aren’t as important, but give you significant boosts with a point or a few points in them.

Don’t overskill ANY skill beyond 3 lvls higher than your current lvl until you reach the lvl cap @ 80 – it’s just not worth the penalties over and over and over.. better to be patient, but make sure to keep staves/black/red magic at least at your lvl because these are your damage sources and you may end up ‘doing as little as half damage if these skills are low compared to your opponent.’

Keep class enhancement, double bond, stat enhancement, mitigated penalties, class specialization around the same lvl, but far far behind your character lvl – these skills are not worth the time needed to lvl them unless you can do so in only a few fights
Epicurious and acquittal should only be touched after completing your build

I also recommend using rare/uncommon armors only until the 78/88 armors – not worth the hassle and the price for a temporary set

All enchantment negs should be in any recovery skill (mre/pre/reg)

Your pouch should roughly stay at 40% (mostly recastable) DD spells, 40% nrg/mana replenishers (invigorate, manaburst - i prefer their cantrip forms for mages), and 20% balance/auras(gemhaste, flareup)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dual pvp/pvm, differently enchanted sets to switch btwn the 2.. as always, pvm until lvl cap is reached
Char Class = Warlock
Magic Type = primarily black, and red
Build Type = 90/140/89/1
LEVEL 1-19:
29/29/20/1
melee: 2 str, 1 pst//magic: 2 int, 1 cnc//def: all dur
Focus on these skills primarily in this order:
SPIRITS: Staves, black magic, red magic, enough diabolism to get the DD gems you need in your pouch, wizardry and gem handling to 10, destruction/sleight of hand
COMBATS: suiting, crit strike, 2 handed, overcrit, hemorrhage, petmanship
Equipment: start with the ragtag pieces you find from bosses/mobs, then get the full rare 13 suit, enchanted with mostly str, and a little int as well.. get a rat on as soon as you can, and also upgrade your staff as much as you can from the lvl 3, to 7, to 13, to the epic 17 - your primary damage source at these lvls
Area you should be fighting in at lvl 19: north passage (yellows/oranges)
Boss you should be able to solo: orc camp boss, lvl 21
LEVEL 20-39:
59/59/40/1
melee: evenly distribute btwn str and pst//magic:2 int, 1 cnc//def: 2 dur, 1 cnt
You get awesome new skills: necromancy and inferno which boost your DD damage. Also, double attack, crush spec, and mirrored blade are very nice skills as well
Bring these new skills into play, as well as blue/green magic (in order to begin using nrg/mana replenishers), and continue lvling the previous skills (bringing gem handling to at least lvl 20)
The rare 13 set is good until the epic 25, or uncommon 27.. after that a good jump would be to the rare 36 or epic 39 set. The epic staff is good until the lvl 40 epic staff (very minor difference in dps btwn the 17 and couple of uncommons that would not hurt you much at all till the 40). Upgrade your rat to 2x chipmunks, then swans
Enchantments should now be about half int/half str
Area you should be in at lvl 39: bat caves (orange)
Boss you should be able to solo: goblin mountains boss, lvl 41
LEVEL 40-59:
70/99/69/1
melee: 1 str, 2 pst//magic: 1 int, 1 cnc, 1 mst//def: all dur
Unfortunately, no new notable skills besides the mana/nrg boosting ones (only spend a few trophies on these as they are not nearly as important as your other core skills)
Keep lvling the old skills, get your gem handling and wizardry to 50, and begin to bring up your impedance a bit also
If you are using the 36 set, jump to the 44/45 set as soon as you get the chance, then to the 52s/59s/61s – these are very temporary sets and should only be used if u find it as a drop or get it very very cheap from AH – don’t waste too much money enchanting them either.. if the 39, those are good till the epic 58s (48 set is barely better than the 39 and isn’t worth switching to) Enchant your gear with all int/cnc enchants – you are at a point where your staff doesn’t do nearly as much damage as your spells
40 staff is still good, and upgrade your swans to a seal/sheep, or 2x seals
Area you should be in at lvl 59: arena isle (yellow/orange)
Boss you should be able to solo: dungeon of rot 1, snow forest, birch forest (all lvl 61)
LEVEL 60-80:
90/140/89/1
melee: all pst//magic: 2 int, 1 cnc//def: 5 dur, 1 cnt
New skills! Only 1 very useful one for you tho: TUNNEL VISION, the mother of all updates for mages
Also usable new weaponries: smash(essential for pvp only), precision, strikethrough, deathblow
Again, work these new skills in sparingly while raising the core skills from earlier
When you are at lvl 67 ish, that is the time to lvl staves to 69 and equip the epic 69 stick (hehe) this will be your best friend for a very long time
For pvm, equip a 78 staff (for the massive int boost) when you are at an appropriate lvl and switch back to the 69 only when you are in pvp mode (for the awesomesauce mez effect)
If you are wearing the 58 set, it is good until the 75/78 armors
If you are wearing the ragtag 52/59/61s, the 64 set, then 75/78 would be good upgrades
The rare 75 set has very nice stats for mages on it, and will serve as a good temp until you find the 78 epics – enchant all this with about a 2:1 int:cnc ratio
Upgrade your pets to either 2x boas, and would be a good idea to keep 2x owls handy for pvp, or high lvl bosses
Area you should be in at lvl 80: south lake halcyon (orange/red)
Boss you should be able to solo: south lake halcyon boss, lvl 84 (after awhile of raising skills – then higher
Level Cap.
Final Stats Distribution (base stats only pre-enchanting):
Melee: ~190 str, 105 dex, 252 pst//Magic: ~330 int, 211 cnc, 140 mst//Defense: ~108 agi, 135 cnt, 350 dur
Here is where it gets fun: have 2 different equipment sets and 3 diff gempouches when you get to the point where you can afford them
Set 1 (pvp set):
(use owls)
All gear enchanted with half dur, half int, including a 69 staff
Pouch: 50% DD (heavy on the black), 30% cantrip only replenishers, 20% balance/flare up/gemhaste/sloth
Set 2 (pvm set):
(use boas)
All gear enchanted with mostly int, 20%mst and 20%cnc, including a 78 staff
Pouch: 40% DD (heavy on black), 40% replenishers (mostly cantrips, with some of the big burst ones also), 20% balance/flareup/gemhaste
Have fun getting everything to 89 (core skills first, of course)
Make sure to have 4x derinium and beriali gems in your gembag at endgame.. these help especially for casters in cutting down the randomness of gemdraws and making sure you get the gems you need
Guide to De-lvling: delvl your recovery you have built up over the course of the game in Great plateau at lvl 77/78, until it reaches lvl 1 and your build is complete
At first I began making this guide for the very generous tee seas flashus offered.. but along the way I found his true intent and I hope this helps you new players out there cuz I put my all into this guide :P
PvE
Char Class = Angel
1. PRIMARY WEPONS ( FLARE UP,white,green DDs and staff)
2. MANABURSTS,INVIGORATES AN CANTRIPS IS A MUST ALWAYS!!
3. SECOND POUCH IS A MUST (half full with heals and escapes until you get third pouch then you fill full heals second)
4. ALWAYS raise magic,defense and melee NO recovery (use bursts to heal mana and enrgy)
5. ALWAYS up your mage, stave,weponry and protection skills according to your lvl (psych,death and life magic) - (weponry and protection)
6. heal pets are always better option then attack pets
Strategy lvl 1-19.
FIRST GET A FLARE UP!!!! then put some DDs
melee ----- 2 str 1 PST
magic -----2 INT 1 CNC
defense ----- 3 DUR
armors to use lvl 6,11,16
ALL STR ENCHANTS!!! staff is your best friend on low lvls (remember you dont need dex since staff is a crushing wepon)
orange bosses no problem
29 melee,29 magic,18 defense,1 recovery
Strategy lvl20-39 (you should already have a second pouch with nice heals in it)
melee ---- 2 STR 1 PST
magic ---- 1 INT 1 CNC 1 MST
defense ---- 3 DUR
armor 23,27,36 ALL INT ENCHANTS!!! this is the time when your DDs start to kick in
orange boss no problem
58 melee,68 magic,29 defense,1 recovery
Strategy lvl40-59
melee ---- 1 STR 2 PST
magic ---- 1 CNC 2 MST
defense ---- 1 AGI 1 CNT 1 DUR
armor 44,47,52 ALL INT ENCHANTS!
red boss np
79 melee,99 magic,49 defense,1 recovery
Strategy lvl60-80
melee --- 1 STR 2 PST
magic --- 1 INT 1 CNC 1 MST
defense ---- 1 AGI 1 CNT 1 DUR
64 armor 75 armor 84 armor ALL INT ECHANTS!!
100,140,79,1 good setup for PvP too
IMPORTANT AT LVL 80 FOR DELEVELING when you have all skills at 80 and up!!! 140,140,39,1 - would be the best solution on lvl 80 (for PvE)
deleveling and redistributing :
melee ---- EVERYTHING IN PST !!!
magic ---- as it is
defense ---- EVERYTHING IN DUR!!
nao that your uber you put your recastable dd that uses enrgy in first slot instead and keel in matter of seconds with high PST
hope you all enjoy this can be used on all classes,you just swap the dmg DDs according to your class if its blue,red,black dont have to be white and green and even free accounts can use this tactic,didnt wanna impose epics and ****
P.S. caster class is the best
Ok, couple beginning comments. Menage, your guide is superb, so I personally would vote for yours. This is my attempt at a full Magic guide, even though I’m a low lvl, and I’m gonna do it with the wizard class, even tho Warlocks and Jewelers are the strongest by the numbers…supposedly
This is not the way I’ve built my wizard at the beginning, but I feel it might make the early game go by slightly quicker. Early on will be focused on staff for damage, and have a few heals in the pouch that will be removed as you lvl up. Later gems will become the dominant focus, heals will be removed, and more DDs and replenishers will be added.
Char Class: Weeezard
Weapon type: Staff and DD gems
Build type will be 79/140/100/1, PvE build
Strategy for lvls 1-19:
3 Melee, 2 Magic, and 3 Def per every 2 lvls, giving a build at lvl 19 of 30/19/29/1(1 stat required til lvl 20)
Melee lvls:
Str – 3
Dex – 0
Pst – 0
Magic lvls:
Int – 2
Cnc – 1
Mst - 0
Defense lvls(roughly even):
Agi – 1
Cnt – 1
Dur – 1
The idea here is to focus on melee damage. Magic will need Int for damage and Cnc in order to not be resisted, you should have ample mana/energy until lvl 19. In defense it is to keep agi approximately 105 + your lvl, contravention approximately 110 + your lvl, and put the rest into dur. Spreading them out evenly will achieve this by lvl 19. Shooting for Defense stats of roughly 125/130/135.
Important Skills:
Staves – 21 or 23
Suiting – 25
Critical Stike/2H - 19
Overcrit/Hemm – ~15
Parry/Impedance -~15
Combat Recovery - ~10
Diabloism/Sorcery/MindBend - ~15
Red Magic – 23
Black Magic – 20
Green/White – 18
Blue – 20
Revitalize/Replenish - ~15
Sleight of Hand/Destruction ~15
Gem Handling/Wizardry – 10
Petmanship – 18
Other skills to think about that can help but aren’t super important at this stage:
Mental Con., Rem. Focus, Dinvination
Learning focus active learning and passive advance, then GA, AA.
Adventuring raise item stacking and decum up.
Equipment:
Weapons – 17 staff if epic(work on 25 epi- asap when farming a zone), 21 staff if not working on 26.
Should have lvl 25 armor equipped, if not using epics lvl 20 armor should be used, and should be working on 27 armor. Chippie to help heal you.
Gem pouch should consist of flare up rk 4(in first spot), 6-8 red/black DDs, 2-4 blue DDs(cantrips for quick draws), 4 replenishers, aura of sloth, and a few HoTs to help reduce damage.
Farming:
Should be farming MD2(for 100% spirits) and switching to N dread/Rocklands soon, and should be able to solo both NPass and Moss Dungeon Lvl 2 bosses fairly easily.
Enchants:
Should be +str/int/cnc focused. –mre/-pre are recommended.
Strategy from lvl 20-39:
3 Melee, 3 Magic, 2 Defense per 2 lvls, giving a build at lvl 39 of 59/50/49/1. This is where we start to move toward kill speed using both gems and staff efficiently.
Melee lvls:
Str – 2
Dex – 0
Pst -1
Magic lvls:
Int – 1
Cnc – 1
Mst – 1
Defense lvls:
Agi – 1
Cnt – 1
Dur – 1
The idea from lvl 20-39 is to keep your melee damage high, while adding more energy as gems start to use more. Defense strategy is the same, should now be roughly 145/150/155 in defense. In Magic, you’ll need more Mst for max mana, as gems start to use more per cast, and to keep upping int/cnc for damage and to not be resisted.
You’ll want to pause in areas dominant in spirit trophies, use CE/CS/MP/SE/DB/Epicurious under stats in order not to lvl. Raise skills close to your lvl, then move on.
Important Skills:
Staves – 43
Suiting – 45
Critical Stike/2H - 39
Overcrit – 25+
Hemmorage – 30+
Crush Spec/Double Attack – 30+
Parry/Impedance -~25+
Combat Recovery - ~25+
Mirrored Blade – 30+
Combat endurance/concentration – 30+
Diabloism/Sorcery - ~15
MindBending – 10-15
Red Magic – 45
Black Magic – 40+
Green/White – 36+
Blue – 35+
Revitalize/Replenish - ~30+
Sleight of Hand/Destruction ~35+
Gem Handling/Wizardry – 20
Shared Bliss – 30+
Inferno/Necromancy – 35+
Longevity/Perseverance – 25+
Replay – 20+
Divination – 25+
Mental Conservation - 20+
Petmanship – 39 (if not using swans this can stay at 30 for now)
Other skills to think about:
Repel
Learning: focus on cognizance and perception, then raise arcane magic, GA, and AA, followed by squirehood then companionship.
Adventuring skills work on plunderfield and packmule, followed by archeo and treasure sense.
Equipment:
Weapons – 40 staff(epicurious @ 25), or if not using epics the 43 staff.
Should have lvl 39 armor equipped, if not using epics lvl 36 armor should be used, and should be working on 45 armor. Swans for heals if you use epics, otherwise Dual chippies
Gem Pouch: 12 red/black DDs, 6-8 blue DD cantrips, ~12 replenishers, flare up aura(still in slot 1 for the time being), aura of sloth, and perhaps 2-4 HoTs to fill remaining slots or if fighting red+ mobs
Farming:
Should be farming Bat Caves, and should be able to solo the Bat Caves boss easily, probably the VD1 boss as well.
Enchants:
Should be +str/int/cnc focused. –mre/-pre are recommended.
Strategy from lvl 40-59:
Now is where magic starts to fully take over. Staff damage still helps for PvE, but is now the 2nd source of damage. 1 Melee, 4 Magic, and 3 Defense per 2 lvls, giving a build at lvl 59 of 69/90/79/1.
Melee lvls:
Str – 0
Dex – 0
Pst -3
Magic lvls:
Int – 1
Cnc – 1
Mst – 1
Defense lvls:
Agi – 1
Cnt – 1
Dur – 1
The idea from lvl 40-59 is to focus on raising magic damage now that gems are really kick’n. Because these gems are rock’n you’ll also want more pst and mst. Defense strategy is the same, adding another 5 to agi and cnt, making agi 110+lvl and cnt 115+lvl. Defense stats now are roughly 170/175/195.
Pause in high% spirit areas, use CE/CS/MP/SE/DB/Epi. Raise skills up, then move on.
Important Skills and New:
Staves - 62
Suiting – 58/63 (epic/non-epic)
Double Attack/Crush Spec – 50+
Critical/2H – 55+
Overcrit – 50+
Hemm – 45+
Mirrored Blade – 50+
Parry/Impedance – 45+
Combat Recovery – 40+
Banish Light/Grim Resolution/Null Mind – 40+
Sorcery/Mind Bend/Diabloism - ~50+ (for resists, more gems of color, sorcery can start to fall behind here, Diabloism should be your main focus)
Green – 54 (notice no white now…a couple regrowths if your attached to them are ok)
Blue – ~60
Black – ~60
Red – 65
Sleight of Hand/Destruction – 55+
Inferno/Necromancy – 50+
Longevity/Perseverance – 45+
Gemhandling – 50 (4 of each gem)
Mana Vault/Everence – 40+
Revitalize/Replenish 40+
Banish Light/Grim Resolution/Null Mind – 40+
Petmanship – ~53(seals or swan/seal for heals, otherwise still dual chippies)
All relevant Lvl 0 skills should be ~50+ and Lvl 20 skills should be 40+. Also this is where divination, mental conservation, replay, and the likes start to really help.
Other skills to think about:
None…boo no cool skills at 40+ :\
Learning focus on cultivation, then as before.
Adventuring, keep focus on plunder, then as before. Explo and Climbing help too.
Equipment:
Should have lvl 58 armor equipped, if not using epics lvl 63 armor should be used.
Weapons – 62 staff, or 40 still if using epics, epi- should be 50 if so.
Farming:
Should be farming Arena Isle, and should be able to solo Arena Isle boss.
Enchants:
Should be +str/int/cnc focused. –mre/-pre are recommended. Can also use +dur or –reg if needed.
Strategy lvl60-80.
1 Melee, 5 Magic, 2 Defense lvls per 2 char lvls. This will give you at cap a build of 79/140/100/1.
Melee lvls:
Str – 0
Dex – 0
Pst – 3
Magic lvls:
Int – 1
Cnc – 1
Mst – 1
Defense lvls:
Agi – 1
Cnt – 1
Dur – 1
The idea from lvl 60-80 is to focus on maxing your magic damage. That’s your main focus now. Defense strategy is the same, should now be roughly 190/195/215.
Again, pause in high% spirit zones, work on skills some, then move on.
Important Skills and New: (skills will be listed approximately where they should be when you hit 80, obviously after you will continue to increase them )
Staves – 82
Suiting – 78/84 (epic/non-epic)
Critical Strike/2H – 75+
Hemm/Overcrit – 65+
Double Attack – 70+
Crush Spec – 70+
Strikethrough - 50+
Precision – 50+
Parry/Impedance – 65+
Combat Recovery – 60+
Mirrored Blade – 65+
Combat Endurance/Concentration – 65+
Banish Light/Grim Resolution/Null Mind – 55+
Battle Mending – 35+
Sorcery/Mind Bend/Diablo - ~75+ (for resists, more gems of color)
Green – 72
Blue – 79
Black – 79 (DoTs, adding sloth aura)
Red – 80
Inferno/Necro – 65+
Longevity/Perseverance – 60+
Mana Vault/Everence – 55+
Burning Soul – 40+
Petmanship – 68+
All other relevant Lvl 0 skills should be ~60+ and Lvl 20 skills should be ~55+ and Lvl 40 skills should be 50+
Other skills to think about:
Umm, none, too few skills at 60 :\
Learning and Adv as before.
Equipment:
Weapons – 69 staff(epicurious 75 now)
Should have lvl 78 armor equipped, if not using epics lvl 84 armor should be used.
Gem Pouch: 16-20 red/black DDs(red recastable in spot 1), 6-10 Blue DD cantrips, ~16 replenishers, flare up or 2(in spots 2-4). Aura of sloth. Fill out pouch with deriniums/berialis or a couple HoTs.
Farming:
Should be farming Dungeon of Rot 3 or Halcyon Rapids, and should be able to solo the South Lake Halcyon boss.
Enchants:
Should be +str/int/cnc focused. –mre/-pre are recommended. Can also use +dur or –reg if needed.
Level Cap.
79/140/100/1.
New Skills:
Deathblow – helps with staff damage end-fight...not huge tho
Tunnel Vision – raise like crazy, will help prevent resists.
Main focus: Raise red/black/blue skills for better gems and work for 90 red for max flare up aura(rk 9). Work on inferno/Necro first as those are your big boosts to damage. Double Attack and Crush Spec are helpful for a little extra staff damage, but again, gems are the focus at this lvl. Raise skills that add mana/energy and reduce mana/energy use. Then work on getting everything else that’s useful up to par and you’re good to go
Guide to De-lvling.
No need…you have your build.
Enchants:
Should be +str/int/cnc focused. –mre/-pre are recommended. Can also use +dur or –reg if needed.
Well i wouldnt say it is useless but STR, Cnc and Dur enchants for a caster is horrible. The gems do the dmg and you only need about 250 Cnc plus Dur enchants arent good cause more dmg is less rrt burnt so more trophies and exp.
