I play a paladin that disregards agi and benefits greatly from damage prevention. The mantra goes “Auras do not stack.”, but the values of aura effects that inflict damage per attack add up when they are of a different color. The only explanation I have for this is that blue’s “redirecting damage” counts as an effect of its own next to green’s “inflicting” and white’s “preventing” (it's illogical as “redirecting 1 damage” consists of “preventing 1” & “inflicting 1”, but whatever).
If that is the case, then blue redirecting and white preventing aura effects add up as well (f.e. "redirecting 1" + "preventing 2" = "inflicting 1" + "preventing 3"), but it’s nigh impossible to verify it as the game doesn’t show how much damage from a hit is avoided. Common sense tells me it should be alright, but can’t stop the nagging feeling that I might only fool myself with assumptions.

Hence my inquiry.

I would even bite the "Noob!"-bullet if that gets me a definite answer.

Here's a definite answer.

If two auras have the same aura effect icon that hovers above your portrait, they don't stack with each other.

If two auras have different aura effect icons that hover above your portrait, they do stack with each other.

tadaaaaa

Thumbs up

Very informative thread, both in the composition of the question, and the manner in which a reply was (visually) explained.
Thank you (Mike?) for the verification as well.

(+) for the detailed question
(+) for the detailed response
and a
(-) for the single completely unhelpfull or contributary response in the entire thread.

On another note- Is anyone aware of any info/table/data created by a user that lists all of the gems as well as their combat icons and/or compatability in the case of auras?

I will add to the aura question, with a separate but aura related question.

Which auras are considered, detrimental, beneficial, or possibly both? The easy ones are black (detrimental), and white (beneficial), but what about blue that reflects? It's beneficial because it removes the effect from you, but also detrimental since it slings it back to the caster.

So for clarity, which actual auras does a Pally benefit from and which do DKs get?

Thanks.

Detrimental are those that surround your opponent ie aura of sloth. DK

Beneficial auras are those that surround you ie Damage Negation. Pally

It seems like you are over thinking it, I do the same from time to time as well.
