Default Archer Question

I was recently told that as an archer INT or CNC determine either bow damage or arrow damage, not one for both. Is this true?

Both stats "determine [an archer's] chance of dealing full damage." Bow damage is higher than arrow damage, right? If Int enhaces the one and cnc the other, it would mean that just one stat would have to be increased for optimal dps - i doubt that this is the case.

INT and CNC are for archers as well as casters. From what I understand both increase the chance to deal full damage, not increasing the damage from one or the other.

Think of it like STR for warriors, the higher it is the more likely you are to deal full damage, but of course with archers it won't go over the combined damage of arrow and bow.

Int & Cnc are averaged when determining damage. If you don't use DD gems, just put everything into Cnc. It'll help your ability to cast DoT's, Dazes & Taunts.

For the record, it absolutely can go over the combined damage of the bow and arrow, just as a heap of Str can push your damage over a crushing or slashing weapon's described max.

int increase dmaage and cnc increases accuracy so it basically the choice of whether you want to hit often hit high damage though a balance is probably the best

What D-W wrote is true for gems.
Dex influences a bow's accuracy, much like a slashing or piercing weapon.
Again, the average between Int & Cnc influences a bow & arrow's damage. There is no distinction between either bow damage or arrow damage individually.

My archer, Indrasil, raises solely Cnc in magic and solely Dex in melee. High accuracy for both gems and shots, and as Int and Cnc are averaged, it's just as much damage as if the two were raised evenly. He only uses DoT's against the enemy, occasional taunts.

To sum it up: Emperor's right. :P

Agreed. Int and Cnc average out to give you the likely hood of max damage.

I think most archers put into CNC to ensure good hitrates on DoT/Taunt/Mes/Stun/etc.

Besides, Int stones are easy to make, and much cheaper imo than cloth . ugh

BttT.
There was a discussion a few minutes ago in-game on this, and I was wanting official clarification (i.e.: Glitchless) on it.
One side saying average of two, other side saying int for arrow, cnc for bow. Which is right?

Got a link or other way of finding it? It's Minroth who's staunchly arguing otherwise.

the problem is this:

when you mouse over the int and cnc, it says one thing. and when you go to add points in the skill adding screen upon leveling int or cnc, the description is slightly different,

they need to change the skill description when you level up, so this rumor doesnt pop up again.
