Default Wizard CA leech?

So it definitely leeches mana/energy on melee strikes (staff hits), but it doesn't leech on casts unless you hit yourself with the class ability on daze, then cast on yourself during daze.

I see 3 potential bugs here:
1) Doesn't leech off casts vs mob: should leech mana/energy from all hits (since CA desc doesn't specify melee only).
2) Leeches mana/energy from self: shouldn't actually affect your own mana/energy since you're the one casting/hitting and leeching it back to yourself.
3) Doesn't leech in PVP with other players: I have used it numerous times on those without impervious and don't see any mana/energy leech when teammates hit the affected player, only in that once-in-a-lifetime event where I actually land a staff hit.

Devamp means you get manergy from damage you take.

Yes but the devamp aura is on the enemy, so them taking damage from all sorts of damage (unless otherwise specified) should result in getting manergy back.

Dealing damage to your devamped enemy should not result in getting any manergy back.

Aura is on them indeed, but it's not vamp manergy aura. Vamp means when I hit you, I steal your mana/energy. Devamp means when you hit me, I steal your mana/energy.

My guess is OP has theft runes on, which is giving returns from staff damage. I tried with staff and got nowt.

Mob has devamp auras applied, hits me for 195, gets devamped for 20/20. Staff hit on mob (with no theft runes running), no manergy for me.

Wizard CA devamp works the same as aura gem devamps, far as I know.

Right you are.

Since theft runes work for DDs as well as staff, and khettry says nothing is leeching from casts I don't think they are on. If anything, might be mistaking gains from getting hit with hitting with staff.

Yeah could be, would be easy to calculate from hit/vamp numbers. My 48 hits would have vamped 3/3 if with r6 thefts on.
