CNT gives a chance to lower direct damage. It also helps you avoid ranged shots from an archer as well as getting nailed with a spell in the first place.

Keep in mind you need to up your own magic skills first before CNT has any effects.

ac = armor class, the number that indicates how strong your armor is (every armor piece has an ac number, the higher the better usually)

up your own magic skills first before CNT has any effect?? what does this mean exactly?

does it mean you need high skill levels of red magic and black magic for CNT to help defend against red and black magic? even if you get 0 int and never use red or black magic?

or does it mean you need to be a Wizzard class and get lots of int and high magic damage for CNT to help?

Sorcery, Diabolism, and Mind bending give 0.05% resistance per level depending on your CNT. (Respectively resistance to Life Magic, Death magic, and Psych magic.)

There are skills that increase your resistance to spells. They are:
Lv 0
Impedence (max 10%)
Sorcery (max 5% white/green)
Diabloism (max 5% red/black)
Psych (max 5% blue/grey)

Lv 40
Banish Light (max 15% white/green)
Null Mind (max 15% grey/blue)
Grim Resolution (max 15% black/red)

A low CNT would probably half the resistance amount (as per low stats for block)

The total resistance from skills you can get is a grand 30%, depending on your CNT. Compare that with a simple resistance aura at grey magic lv 15 of 20%.

CNT does help in reducing the Direct spell Damage if it does hit, but resisting is more important IMO.
