Default Arena Patch

I know there is a new formula to pit arena teams with similar ratings against on another. However when in arena as a level 34 paired with a lvl 21 and 27 we were facing 3 lvl 80 player teams with rating well above ours. Anyone else encountering the same issue?

The patch did not eliminate the chance of meeting stronger groups just reduced it. If there are 3 low lvl groups and 1 higher unfortunately 1 of the low lvls will meet them.
It is a hard path to tread but one worth following

So I've been fighting a fair bit in the arena in the last 2 days and I believe there are a couple of major flaws in the system.

Firstly, a team can get to a high rating then swap members for even better members and the same people they were beating before suddenly start losing 9 rating instead of 1 or 2. It took me a long time to get my rating up and then suddenly i get slaughtered by teams rated around 300 which are the same players who were already beating me when they were rated 1500+. Why should I lose so many of my rating points just because they switched their teams around?

Secondly, there were about 6-8 teams in the arena today that I could see and yet every second fight I would fight the same team that kept beating me. So I would gain 4 points and then lose 4 points repeatedly even though there were other teams I hadn't even fought yet. At some times I even fought the same team twice in a row whilst there were other weaker teams around. This would be better if you cannot fight the same team again until you have fought everyone else. Once you fight all teams once then the counter resets and you fight everyone again.

On a positive note, I do enjoy the arena when it's working good and it was a great addition to this game. Once the system is worked out properly I think it will be awesome.

I concur completely with Nighthawk's comments. The past several days my team has also been facing mostly teams composed of "team jumpers." Every time we faced certain players, those players were on different teams that had low ratings. We'd lose around 4 rating points. Had those players been on a steady team, they would have had a rating well in excess of ours. We still would lost to them, but we'd have lost around 1 or 2 points.

The only solution to this i can think of is to decrease how much rating you lose when you have lost a match... and if we do this we need to decrease how much you gain when you win... which would take longer to get higher rating... resulting in even longer arena seasons... I think this would be a bad idea

Once again tonight I kept getting the same arena team over and over even when I could see other teams as well.

How can the rating be a true reflection of the arena if you aren't fighting everyone and just keep fighting the same team?

It's unfortunate when you run into a team that is much stronger than its rating, but that is only a temporary setback. We recently fought a new team of 3 strong clannies that had a low rating. Even though we beat them three out of four, we LOST 7 points. Each time we won, we gained 2-3 points, but when we lost, we dropped 15 points! Needless to say, we do not enjoy fighting such teams.

Although I don't know the formula for determining winning and losing points, it seems clear that team ratings will end up where they belong. I suggest looking at the teams directly above you. If you can beat them consistently, your rating will go up. But if the teams listed directly below you can beat you, then your rating is inflated, and it should go down. If the teams above you are stronger, and the teams below you are weaker, then your rating is exactly where it should be. If you play for a while, then your rating will reach that equilibrium point, but that may be as far as you can go.

Also, losing to strong teams is not necessarily a bad thing. Our team has been very generous to many of the teams above us, fighting (and losing to) them over and over. We normally don't quit early at the arena unless we've lost five or six in a row. By losing to better teams you increase their rating, which in turn makes them less dangerous to your rating the next time they beat you. If you deserve a higher rating you will get it back soon enough. Participation is what makes everyone's rating overall rating go up in the long run.

So in the arena it can be better to give than receive. Well, maybe not better, but sometimes almost as good.

I disagree Pansy.

There were at least 6 teams in the arena and I kept fighting the same team almost every fight. That team was stronger than me so my rating was dropping every fight. The lower teams were obviously fighting each other and maybe the same thing was happening to them and they were fighting the same team over and over. Either way, at least one of those lower teams must have been winning and constantly increasing their rating. Now when their rating gets near to mine how can we say they are as strong as my team when I haven't fought them yet? They have increased by beating lower teams and I have decreased by losing to the same team.

The only way to to get an accurate rating is to have all teams fight each other. Even that won't be completely accurate as there may be teams that are never in the arena when you are but it would be better than the way it is now.

And here we go again...how do you get a player with 3 x tempers fighting in the arena with a rating of 80 and taking 9 points from me every time they beat me. To get 3 x tempers those players must have had a rating over 1000 previously.

Seriously your arena is screwed!! Please fix it!

And now I am over the lack of response from Glitchless. You seem just like another company that takes peoples money but delivers garbage customer service.

I have now gone from a rating of 1484 to 1424 all because of teams with good players that jump from team to team. You really can't be serious about this rating system. It is a complete joke!

I also know of other players who are fed up with this but they won't post here because you won't listen.

I agree with nighthawk the system 4 matching teams does not work! Would b far better if teams were matched on their average level rather than their rating

WTF is going on here Glitch?! My team is struggling at the moment with only a 680 rating yet 9 out of 10 matches are against 1300+ rating teams, and not only that, when we lose the matches we LOSE SOME OF OUR RATING. WTF is this? Why are we losing rating when we're pitted against teams with OVER DOUBLE OUR RATING?!?!?!?!

This has been going on since we hit 200 rating. once we hit that point the rating scheme went RIGHT out the window and we started getting paired up against 1300+ teams EVERY OTHER FIGHT. not a huge deal except we are LOSING rating. That's messed up.

Why no response from you about this? Obviously there is a serious issue. Arena sucks more NOW than it previously did IMO!!!!!!!!!

I'm freakin sick of this and finally am posting. ENOUGH IS FREAKING ENOUGH.

Why the hell can't there just be level range arena brackets. level 1-20's fight each other, PERIOD. 20-40's fight. 40-60's fight, and 60-80's fight. and maybe a selection for FREE FOR ALL in which case if you have that selected, you can be pitted against ANY team. Am I the only one that thinks this makes freaking sense?!?!?!?!

Oya, and I totally agree with the above statements. it's totally FUDGED being a low rating team and going up against people with 3x enchants who have a lower rating than we do yet yesterday had nearly 1000 rating more. that's GOTTA BE A BUG/EXPLOIT. GIVE ME MY TC"S NOW PLEASE!!!

At the very least there needs to be a restriction like for switching clans for arena. If you LEAVE a team you cannot fight inarena for AT LEAST 24 hours. something like that. It would deter the total BS that just happened today where we saw a player on a team with 1383rating, got beat by them, and THEN got matched up with a team that was our range (ish) and THAT SAME PLAYER WAS NOW THERE.

A limiter definitely needs to be put in place to slow down the team jumping. Or somethhing that will block someone already with 1x or more tempers from joining or going below a certain rating. I don't know I just know something is jacked up with the rating system matchup,

ive got to agree.

it took us 4 days, of fighting for like 4-5 hours a day in arena to go from 980 to 1008 rating.

its not right.

my proposal:

base the matching SOLELY off of individual rating system. and have that count towards what is needed for tempers. this way jumping ship on a team will accomplish nothing.

besides this i cant see anything that is gonna help fix this.

also, ive noticed, not sure if others have, but when your close to getting the tempers for a rating, eg: 500, 1000, 1500 etc just before you hit it, you start getting higher rated teams, or stronger rated teams more often.

example:

the other day we fought Zanthyrs team 5 times in a row for them, and we fought 3 other teams while fighting him. how is this fair??

Seems to be working for my team. Most of the time we end up being paired with 1800-2200 rated teams. So far so good; only at night when 1 other team is playing does the system fail.

Really the only way to "fix" the arena would be to base matches off groups average lvl. No other way would work. And late at night it all goes out the window..lol

This appears to be one of the rare cases on forums where both sides are correct. Yes, over time the ratings will restore themselves to the proper place after a team of three arena veterans remake a team and go on a rampage to the top screwing up ratings along the way, but it's both very disheartening to the people who's faces they step on while they're shooting up the ladder as well as unnecessary.

The solution is when you are beaten by a team who's average personal rating is higher than their team rating that we use their average team rating to calculate your loss. That way you don't lose a ton of points the way you would if you actually did lose to a truly low-rated team.

It may seem simpler to just always use individual ratings for these calculations all the time, however, this causes some other problems that would be equally annoying.
