what is the point of ash?

ash can be used for many things:

1. to summon beasts (you will also require templar and SoA (Scepter of Annulment) as well as access to hell (via SoS or $15 trial))

2. to play poker for more ash

3. to quest items instead of paying real monies for them. eg. aqua lungs cost $20 (real money) or 20k ash. you can view all buyable purchases under BUY ITEMS in gold.

4. to change D*Ds (2k ash)

I screwed up and did not destroy a demon horn when I got it for the ash. How can I destroy it now or even get drop it.

Anything under ___Other____ can NOT be destroyed.

You cannot destroy items under other, as NS said. If you want to destroy another item which you do not destroy upon getting the drop, you go into actions, down to the bottom to destroy, then select the item and submit. Just be careful that you don't destroy something that you would rather keep.
